MAIL: The October mail included these comments from members of Ocean of
Dharma Quotes of the Week:
From S.: Wow , these quotes mean so much to me, thank you and continue the
good work,
D.S. wrote:
I just wanted to chime in with all the other people so greatly appreciating
these quotes. I share them regularly as there's always something being said
that is so right on for a friend, family member or patient. So many wisdom
tear-jerkers. Thanks for your time putting it together.
In the US right now, the election is so big for us. It would be
great to see some more on enlightened society, politics, etc. It's hot in
this sector of the planet! Which affects the whole planet so much. Though
politics as we know it is generally mixed with aggression, there are
degrees of arrogance and aggression and greed and folks could use reminders
of how to develop a vision beyond the current high degree of such things.
Thanks.
[Thanks D.S. for those comments, which inspired a number of quotes on
politics -- ]
After receiving the quote on "Political Consciousness," T.H. wrote: Just
dropping you a line to say hello and to let you know that I appreciated
receiving the quote below from my friend.I took the chance to subscribe to
the Ocean of Dharma and look forward to receiving more... warm regards
Commenting on "The Science of Politics," B. wrote: At a weekend program,
the participants grappled with the political and world situation, and how
to relate to the basic goodness in that context. Any thing more that you
can unearth that Chogyam Trungpa said about politics and times of war and
Basic Goodness would be appreciated.
Writing about the same quote, E. commented: This sounds absolutely
fabulous, and incredibly apropos to the world today.
A university student wrote to Ocean of Dharma asking: I have a presentation
tomorrow for a feminist philosophy class on feminist
peace politics. I would like to put up a slide that distinguishes the
feminine and masculine principles. Where can I find a chart that compares
the characteristics of each? Any guidance or resource you can point me too,
would be very much appreciated.
[I was not able to provide such a chart but did send some reading suggestions.]
After receiving the quote "When the Sun Rises," D.J. wrote:
Hi. I was amazed to find this is my mail yesterday. I want to
share the following with you........
My spouse and 2 sons were down stairs ( yesterday morning) with a couple
and their daughter who were here to purchase a piece of art, when a car
came speeding and then went out of control and nearly killed them all. I
watched it happen from our upstairs balcony. The driver of the car is
famous for his reckless speeding and aggressive behavior. We phoned the
police and he is being charged with reckless driving ; we will go to court
as witnesses. It was wonderful to come inside later in the day and find the
quote you sent. It reminded me to let go of anger and resentment towards
the driver for his behavior. The negative feelings were replaced by
compassion for his lack of wakefulness and the karma he is creating while
in that state.
Thanks. As usual, your choice of quotes and timing was very appropriate .

Namaste ~
Thank you so much for all the work you put into the "Oceans of Dharma
Quotes". I look forward to reading
them each week. They are always interesting and thought provoking.
Again, many thanks.
I wish you Peace and Blessings and...BIG LOVE
On "Electing a President," T.B. wrote: This is great! I hope you can share
more from this interview.
On politics, H.H. wrote: Thank you for today's quote on politics, timely
and refreshing. Our external work continues one step at a time.
Another reader wrote: Thank you for your Politics quotes. I work with a
television anchor. I have been reading some of the Dharma Ocean quotes to
her each morning, and she is very interested in them. Naturally, our show
is often about the upcoming election.
Thanks for your help.
On the quotes about politics, an Australian reader wrote:
Once again Trungpa Rimpoche has something to say about our present situation.
Here in Australia we have just had an election for our Federal Parliament
(on 09/10/04), You sent out a quote on 07/10/04 where in the first
paragraph Trungpa clearly gives us a direction of right and wrong.. We were
faced with a choice between an incumbent who is prepared to say anything if
it will win him favor with those who vote on issues of self interest, not
withstanding the fact that he has a clearly documented history of lying and
not keeping promises made, and a candidate who is trying to foster the
concerns of those less able in our society.
Then on 13/10/04 the quote encourages us not to give up, take the path of a
warrior and change the direction of our political destiny. Of course the
quote is more directed towards your readers in the USA. Whatever the
outcome there, they still have some time to affect the result.
By the time you send this out in your monthly summation of mail, (assuming
that you do), they will have cast their votes and the result will be known.
God bless America and all my love to you and your tireless workers.
Another reader wrote:
Just to let you know that this stream of quotes on politics is coming at a
very good time! see our initiative "engaging politics" (attached) and check
out www.integraltournament.info. keep 'em coming! [Anyone interested in
reading the article that the reader attached -- let me know and I'll
connect you to the person.]
Finally, "The Beer of Fearlessness," drew these comments from readers:
From S.D.: Very timely! Thank you.
From A.B., a simple: Thank you.
And from S.W.: Loved this fizzy bit of wisdom!!
